Community Transport Scheme
Adapt (North East) has operated a successful community transport scheme for many years and all vehicles are fully wheelchair accessible.
Our community transport scheme was developed for use by people who are disadvantaged or isolated through disability or through location in a rural community.
Those eligible to access this scheme under S19 regulations include:
- Disabled people
- Elderly people
- Single women or women who live alone
- Children and young adults
- People receiving certain benefits e.g. Income Support
- Those who are geographically isolated
We provide vehicles up to 16 passenger seats with or without a driver for community groups and members for outings such as educational visits, lunch clubs, shopping trips etc. We also deliver home-to-school contracts and some scheduled rural bus routes (under a Section 22 permit) on behalf of Northumberland County Council.
People using the transport scheme need to be members of Adapt, which costs:
£2 for an individual
£10 for a community group
£20 for a voluntary funded group
£40 for a statutory body or private company
To book a vehicle, please complete a booking form and return it to us. When we have received it, we will contact you and confirm the booking.
