Monday 20th September 2010 – Launch of Northumberland Disability and Deaf Network – Stannington Village Hall, Stannington, Northumberland NE61 6EL – 11am – 3.00pm
Tuesday 14th September – Focus Group - Disabled parents and child care – Adapt, Bluebird House, Haugh Lane Industrial Estate, Hexham NE46 3PU – 11am – 12 noon.
Lauren Widdrington, Research Officer with Northumberland County Council, is currently doing some work on behalf of the Early Years and Childcare team. She is looking at gaps in childcare provision. As part of this, she would like to talk to disabled parents about their childcare needs, and whether there are any gaps in childcare services.
- Those who have children 14 and under (or 25 and under if disabled)
- Those who access childcare or after school activities so she can see where and what they are accessing
- Those who don't access childcare or after school activities so that she can look at reasons for not accessing as part of her childcare "gap" analysis.
If you are a disabled parent, and would like to take part in this focus group, please contact Carolyn Roberts. Expenses will be paid for attending, including childcare expenses.
Northumberland County Council, Disabled Go and NDDN would like to invite you one of 4 meetings being held around Northumberland to talk about places to include in an access guide for Northumberland. This will be an on-line directory, which will provide information on access to 1000 venues in Northumberland. The meeting will provide you with an opportunity to give your views on places that you would like to see in the Guide.
