Help to Plan the Future of Northumberland! Consultation event on 13th Dec 2012

This was a consultation to help Northumberland County Council prepare its Core Strategy, a plan to guide where new houses, jobs and services will go for the next twenty years.  The Core Strategy Issues and Options document and other supporting documents can be viewed at www.northumberland.gov.uk/corestrategy.

The consultation covered how plans may affect specific communities in Northumberland, ensuring that people’s views were taken into account in subsequent stages of the Core Strategy. It provided an opportunity to influence future planning policies for Northumberland in relation to the following issues:

  • Our future housing needs, including affordable housing
  • Where to accommodate new jobs
  • How to keep our towns and villages vibrant places
  • How to protect, conserve and enhance our countryside, coast and historic buildings
  • Use of energy, minerals, land and other resources.

This event was a pilot for the emerging Single Equalities forum, a joint venture between the local Council and voluntary sector.
