Green Light to Work
Green Light to Work is a scheme designed to help unemployed people living in Northumberland who have secured a job but cannot take it up because they do not have their own vehicle and there is no public transport to get them there.
Green Light to Work is funded by the Coalfields Regeneration Trust. The service offers advice on travel planning for unemployed people living in Northumberland seeking work and arranges affordable loans of scooters and cars and bicycles for eligible applicants.
You could qualify for a vehicle if
- You do not own or have access to a vehicle
- You have a confirmed offer of employment
- You live in an area without public transport provision, e.g. buses or trains, to take you to and from your prospective place of employment.
- You live in an area served by public transport but where the timetables do not match working hours of a job offered, for example nightshift work.
- You have undergone a travel plan with Adapt (North East) or one of its partners
- You live in the wards as defined by the Rural Coalfields trust
- You have a driving licence for the category of vehicle you wish to loan
How it works
You will be invited to meet one of our advisors who will conduct a travel planning assessment with you. This includes looking at where you live, what public transport services are available and what job or training offer you have received. If you meet the eligibility criteria and no other form of transport is available, you may be offered either a car, scooter or a bicycle on short term loan.
