DBS checks

The Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) has now replaced Criminal Records Bureau (CRB). DBS provides access to criminal records information through its Disclosure Service. Organisations in the public, private and voluntary sectors can now make safer recruitment decisions by asking successful job applicants to apply for an Enhanced Disclosure.

If your organisation works with children or vulnerable adults then DBS checks are essential.

Adapt (NE) is a Registered Umbrella Body with the DBS and, as such, we can process these checks for you.

There is currently a £5 administrative charge for a voluntary worker check.

For paid workers, there is a £44 charge for the check plus a £24 administration fee.

We can guide you through the whole process at our offices in Hexham or by phone. Please contact Jenna Lee on 01434 600599 or e-mail us via Contact us for more information. We can send you out a form to complete, or you can make an appointment to come in and complete one. We will advise you on what proof of identity you will need to bring with you.

We will also ask you to bring the fee payable from your own organisation – we accept cash or cheques made out to Adapt (NE).
